1979 Jeep CJ5

This particular jeep is very dear to my heart. I purchased this jeep for my 45th birthday from the daughter of its original owner. 72K original mile, Silver Arrow grey Renegade, Levis edition. This “special ordered” jeep came with a 304, T-18 manual trans, Posi rear end, tilt steering PS, PB, A/C and hardtop. When I purchased the Jeep it had been painted blue (however the floors and roll bar were still original grey), most of the interior had been replaced other then visors and door panels. I added side pipes and got into tip top mechanical shape and drove the heck outta it. My wife also loved to drive it. Matt reached out and was looking for a CJ7. Being a small business owner and having a few too many jeeps, I told him about this one… I said I will sell as long as we paint it back to original and build it like “X”. I sent him some pics of what I was thinking, and he said “HECK YEA”. so I was excited, and so was Matt. We stripped it down to metal and resprayed the Silver Arrow Grey paint in a modern base/clear combo, did a color matched bedliner on the interior and Correct blue Renegade stripes. We also found NOS levis seat material and upholstered original low back seats I had been hoarding, re-textured the hard top in white and reinstalled all the Olympic Stainless steal accessories that were on the jeep. (old school cool) The motor was in good shape, just had typical AMC valve guide issues. Fresh rebuilt heads were put on a fully detailed engine bay, (I had done clutch and brakes and axles when I owned it), redid the A/C with modern components, a Howell fuel injection unit and Davis Unified Distributor were installed for reliability. Some 33×12.50×15 BFG All Terrains were installed on some “old school” 15×10 chromies to give it that perfect vibe! We leather stitched the original steering wheel and added a Retro Radio for crusin tunes!.. What and Amazing Jeep! I am definitely jealous, It looks just like I envisioned it.. and drives amazing! The side pipes, 33’s and that color combo are just KNOCK OUT SEXY! thanks again Matt, I hope you and your family enjoy it. “IF” you ever ever sell it, I better be the first guy you call!
